Where It All Started, Since 2004

Opened in September 2004 by founders Mike and Janet Johnston, this is the original Savory Spice location, the very first spire store before there were any others. Stop in to shop, smell, and sample handcrafted spices, herbs, and blends, including a few you'll only find here. We love being part of the Platte Street community.

Travel Tips

We are located on Platte Street just off of 15th Street between the Platte River and I-25. From I-25 take the 23rd Avenue exit toward downtown and drive past the Downtown Aquarium and the REI flagship store. This turns into Platte St. Cross the intersection at 15th and we are half a block down on the left. From downtown, take 15th Street to Platte and take a right.

PARKING: Up to 90 minutes of free validated parking at any of the surface lots located at the Northwest corner of 15th & Platte Streets (as administered by Parkwell) during our business hours, 7 days a week! 

A reservation must be made at the time of parking by using the "Scan to Pay" signs on-site as provided by Parkwell for of 89 minutes or less, and payment information must be entered in order to complete the reservation. Inside our store, there is a QR code posted that, when scanned, will serve as validation for the parking period, and your payment method will not be charged. Should your parking exceed the 89 minute time frame, or should you fail to scan the validation code during the reservation, your payment method will be charged.

  • Mile High Dukkah (Nut-Free) (Toasted sesame seeds, urfa chiles, sea salt, smoked Spanish sweet paprika, sumac, cumin seeds, coriander seeds)
    • Mix with olive oil for a dip, sprinkle over hummus or roasted vegetables, encrust chicken or fish.
  • Northside Hatch Dip (Hatch green chile powder, onion, salt, garlic, white wine vinegar powder, mild red New Mexican chiles, jalapeños)
