Cumin Seeds
One of the most consumed spices in the world. Cumin is a key seasoning in curry blends and chili powders. Use cumin whole for sausages, soups, pickles, sauerkraut, and breads to add an earthy, slightly spicy flavor. Roasting cumin seeds will bring out their full aromatic flavor. Finely grind cumin seeds using a spice grinder or mortar and pestle. For more on cumin and its uses, go Behind the Seasoning: Cumin.
