More Information
What seeds do we cook and eat with?
Seeds are used in cooking around the world. Cumin seeds, mustard seeds, coriander seeds, sesame seeds, fennel seeds, cardamom seeds, poppy seeds, fenugreek seeds and caraway seeds are the most popular seeds that we eat. Some of them are even the seeds taken from the plants that are also used as herbs, like dill or coriander (in the United States, we call coriander cilantro).
What seeds are also considered spices?
Whole seeds that are commonly also turned in to ground spices are cumin, coriander (or cilantro seed), poppy, and mustard seeds. A spice can come from a few different parts of the plant, including the seed that originally grew it!
What seeds are used in Indian cooking?
Essential seeds used in Indian cooking and curries include cumin, mustard seeds, fennel, fenugreek, coriander, and cardamom. We recommend keeping our Ground Cumin Seeds blend, popular Regular Yellow Mustard Powder, and Fennel Seeds on hand in the pantry for typical Indian dishes and recipes.
